Water - Carol Ann Weaver

Orchestra@UWaterloo premiered this song last night. It is composed by Carol Ann Weaver for UW's 50th Anniversary. "In addition to various instrumental soloists, vocalist Rebecca Campbell will sing during "Watersong", blending into the orchestral sound like an instrumentalist, singing both words and vocalise (unworded music)."

Watersong
text by Carol Ann Weaver

Flowing water to the river
flowing water to the stream
flowing freely to the river, flowing freely to the sea,
wash our sorrows and our sadness
wash our burdens down the river
wash our spirits with the river

From the mountains water springing
with the sunlight water singing,
from the valleys water waiting to find the river,
flowing water to the river, flowing river to the ocean.

Falling water from the heavens
spreading water skies are dancing,
and from the ocean water rising to the heavens,
and all around me rising, falling, surrounding me
the water will hold me rising, flowing and carrying.

Flowing water, rushing river, healing river
wash my sorrows under
wash my sadness asunder
wash my sorrows with your wonder.
