| Carla Bruni - France's new First Lady is talented in her own right.

there is growth." - Starting Out in the Evening

| Orchestra@UWaterloo premiered this song last night. It is composed by Carol Ann Weaver for UW's 50th Anniversary. "In addition to various instrumental soloists, vocalist Rebecca Campbell will sing during "Watersong", blending into the orchestral sound like an instrumentalist, singing both words and vocalise (unworded music)."
Watersong text by Carol Ann Weaver
Flowing water to the river flowing water to the stream flowing freely to the river, flowing freely to the sea, wash our sorrows and our sadness wash our burdens down the river wash our spirits with the river
From the mountains water springing with the sunlight water singing, from the valleys water waiting to find the river, flowing water to the river, flowing river to the ocean.
Falling water from the heavens spreading water skies are dancing, and from the ocean water rising to the heavens, and all around me rising, falling, surrounding me the water will hold me rising, flowing and carrying.
Flowing water, rushing river, healing river wash my sorrows under wash my sadness asunder wash my sorrows with your wonder.

| We do not stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing.

| There's a referendum today for students to vote on whether undergrad and grad should pay a mandatory fee of $50 per term for a universal bus pass. For an infrequent bus user, my initial reaction was no way. There are good points from both campaigns. Here are a few that concern me.
Yes Campaign * Non bus users can benefit from a cleaner environment resulted from the increased use of public transportation. * If you paid for a bus pass, you might have more incentive to use the system.
No Campaign * Why should non bus users (which estimated to be at least more than 50% for both undergrad and grad) pay for the bus users? * From observing the experience of other universities, it takes a long time for the improvements for the bus system to materialize, let alone the fact that there've been non concrete plans at this point, just some vague promises.
The second point in the No Campaign reminds me of the debate over whether we should contribute to WEEF since a lot of time we don't benefit from "our own money" But I am sure we benefitted from people before us and perhaps we should "pay it forward". The No Campaign also brought up a point that a lot of the money right now seems to go into the administration instead of the actual improvement (more frequent buses, extended hours) That also concerns me.
Hm...what to vote?
